What Are the Benefits of Using a Smartwatch?

So, you are currently using a nice Seiko automatic watch and although it has served you quite well in the time that it is with you, you are contemplating getting a smartwatch for yourself simply because of the added functionality.

Smartwatches have come a long way since their inception. From bulkier timepieces to streamlined devices, their styles have really gone a long way, not to mention the functionality that one can expect when using them.

As a long-time smartwatch user, I did my own research so that I can consolidate other peoples’ experiences to mine. Today, I am going to provide you with some of the benefits that you can get by using a smartwatch.

What is a Smartwatch?

Before anything else, I would like to define what a smartwatch is first. Basically, a smartwatch is a wearable device that comes equipped with more features other than its basic timekeeping functionality. It comes with some features that smartphones can do which is why some people call them mere extensions of a smartphone.

That being said, some of its core features include basic fitness tracking functionality, GPS, the ability to send and receive calls and texts, receive notifications from your apps, and so much more.

Benefits of Using a Smartwatch

Now that you know what a smartwatch is, what are the key benefits that you can get just by using them? Here are just some:

1) Sensor Tracking Data

What is one thing that smartwatches have over smartphones? Sensor-tracking! That is right, smartwatches come with different sensors that will allow you to know a lot of different things, including your heart rate, how many steps you have taken, how well you’ve slept last night, among many other things.

Basically, smartwatches come with a built-in pedometer, heart rate monitor, and sleep tracker all in one and the good news is that these functionalities are part of the core or basic functions that you can expect in a smartwatch.

2) Waterproof

Although there are smartphones that have IP ratings that can withstand a splash of water, it is not advisable as it could damage some of the components of the said device. Fortunately, you can wear smartwatches even when you bathe simply because they are built as waterproof devices right off the bat.

3) Receive Notifications

If you constantly have your phone on your hand, you know how cumbersome it is to be carrying a heavy device. Sure, smartphones have been built considerably lighter than they once were, but they are still noticeable in the hand regardless, especially if you are going to be bringing them wherever you go.

One of the reasons why people carry their smartphones everywhere is the fact that they are waiting for a message or a particular notification. The good news is that you can have your smartwatch do the same thing, albeit much more comfortable since the device sits on your wrist and not on your hand.
